How to Commission a Hand Drawn Pet Portrait from a Photo
Share
If you have been thinking about commissioning a hand drawn pet portrait, this guide will walk you through exactly how it works.
Each piece is created by hand in my Glasgow studio and designed to capture the warmth, character, and spirit of your pet.
Whether you are looking for a bespoke piece of wall art or a meaningful Christmas gift for a pet lover, commissioning a portrait is a thoughtful way to celebrate the animals we love most.
Step One: Send Your Favourite Photo
Start with a photo that captures your pet at their best.
It could be a playful moment in the garden, a relaxed pose on the sofa, or a close-up that shows their personality. The clearer the image, the more detail I can bring into the drawing.
Simply email or message your photo and we will chat about your ideas for the portrait.
Step Two: Choose Your Style and Size
Once I have your photo, I will help you choose the perfect style and size for your artwork.
My hand drawn pet portraits are available in graphite or pastel pencil, each with a timeless finish that suits any home interior.
You can select from classic sizes or request a bespoke dimension to fit your space. Whether you want something small and intimate or a statement piece for your wall, the portrait will be made to order.
Step Three: Secure Your Booking
A 25 percent deposit secures your space in my commission calendar. This confirms your booking and allows me to begin planning your portrait.
Custom pet portraits are particularly popular as Christmas gifts, so early booking ensures your artwork is ready in time for the festive season.
Step Four: The Drawing Process
Every portrait begins quietly in my Glasgow studio. I take time to study your pet’s features and expression, building the portrait slowly layer by layer.
This process can take many hours, but it is what gives each piece its depth and character. The result is a portrait that feels personal, emotional, and full of life.
Step Five: Review and Approve
When your portrait is complete, I will send a preview for you to review. This ensures you are completely happy before the artwork is packaged and prepared for shipping.
Step Six: Final Payment and Delivery
Once approved, the final payment is made and your portrait is carefully wrapped and shipped to you. Each piece arrives ready to frame, so it can be displayed or gifted straight away.
A Meaningful Gift that Lasts
Commissioning a pet portrait is about more than creating art. It is a way to celebrate love, memory, and connection; a keepsake that becomes part of your home or a heartfelt gift that will be treasured for years to come.
