From Blank Wall to Pet Gallery: My First Solo Art Exhibition
Ever wondered what really goes into setting up an art exhibition?
As a self-taught artist who only began this journey in October, installing my very first solo show was a mixture of measuring, hammering, rearranging, and standing back to see if the pieces worked together. The results are finally up on the walls of Honey Trap Bakery in Glasgow, and I could not be more excited to share them.
Curating the Collection
Choosing which pieces to include was a creative challenge in itself. The exhibition features a vibrant mix of pastel pencil pet portraits, each with its own distinct personality.
Some of the highlights include:
-
An Unexpected Pairing – a cheeky celebration of mismatched friendship
-
The Art of Companionship – a quiet, emotive tribute to the pets who stay by our side
-
Espurr-esso Martini – a sleek cat with a cocktail, for feline and coffee lovers alike
-
Sprollie Mischief – an energetic portrait capturing playful canine chaos
-
Disco Cat – a Ragdoll cat grooving beneath a glittering disco ball
-
Pint-Sized Prints – smaller studies with just as much character
Each piece is drawn by hand using pastel pencils on specialist paper, and the originals are all available for sale.
Take Art Home
Each original is available for purchase, and you can also order:
-
Fine art prints
-
Greeting cards
-
Coasters and bookmarks
They make thoughtful gifts for dog lovers, cat owners or art fans. You can browse the range and order online or get in touch via message to enquire.
Commission Your Own Pet Portrait
I also create bespoke pet portraits. These are completely custom and drawn by hand using your pet’s photos. You can choose between a clean, simple background or something more detailed depending on your space or preferences.
Find out more about custom portraits here and reserve your slot in advance, especially if you are ordering for a special occasion.
